Mozambique and Rwanda abolish entry visas

Mozambique and Rwanda have mutually suppressed entry visas for citizens of both countries, based on an agreement signed on Thursday in Kigali, the Rwandan capital, reported the Mozambican Information Agency (AIM).
“By eliminating the need for entry visas for our citizens, [the measure] will contribute to bringing our two countries closer together”, said the Minister of the Interior, Arsénia Massingue, quoted by AIM.
Citizens of both countries can stay in both Mozambique and Rwanda for a period of up to 90 days without a visa.
According to Massingue, the agreement follows an understanding between the Mozambican President, Filipe Nyusi, and his Rwandan counterpart, Paul Kagame, to “facilitate the promotion of tourism, culture, investment and socio-economic development between the two countries”.
The official asked for an expeditious preparation of the ratification of the agreement, so that it enters into force later this year.
