Moz-SA crossing through Limpopo park resumes as Giriyondo border post reopens

The provincial directorate of the Migration Service (Senami) in Gaza has announced the reopening of the Giriyondo border crossing between South Africa and Mozambique in the Limpopo Transfrontier Park, after a three-year closure.
According to Senami spokesman Abeldo Nhanombe, the reopening of the Giriyondo border post, in Massingir district, represents a major milestone for the national economy, as it is a strategic tourism route.
Despite being officially open, “the border had not yet registered much migratory movement, because our South African counterparts took some time to put the machinery back to work, even after the opening on the Mozambican side,” Nhanombe explained to Notícias.
He added that, within the scope of bilateral relations between the two countries, an agreement unblocking the situation was reached, and the border post was now fully operational.
Nhanombe believes that people will in future move freely through the Giriyondo border crossing.
Speaking to the press in Gaza, the Senami spokesman took the opportunity to warn public transporters on national and international routes against using the country’s borders to transport illegal migrants.
